The Myth of the Mesh Filter – Why Doesn't Cleaning Filters 100% Solve the Mold Problem?

Almost all of us are familiar with the ritual of cleaning the air conditioner in preparation for summer: the air conditioner starts to falter a bit or smell strange, we pull out the plastic grates (the filters), wash them in the bathtub, dry them, and proudly put them back. "There, the air conditioner is clean."
Well, not really.

Cleaning the mesh filter is important to prevent blockage of airflow, but it only deals with coarse dust. Mold, bacteria, and mildew sludge do not grow on the mesh – they settle deep inside, on the cooling coil (evaporator) and in the drain pan. These are dark, damp places that the filter does not protect at all.

When the air conditioner turns on, air passes through the moldy interior of the air conditioner and disperses the spores directly into the room. To deal with this, you don't need to disassemble the air conditioner every week – you need an active solution that can reach inside the system. The active gel block E-SPLIT from Gelair sits inside the air conditioner and constantly releases tea tree oil vapors, which disinfect precisely those hidden areas that cannot be reached with a stream of water.
