Almost all of us are familiar with the ritual of cleaning the air conditioner in preparation for summer: the air conditioner starts to falter a bit or smell strange, we pull out the plastic grates (the filters), wash them in the bathtub, dry them, and proudly put them back. Well, not really.
Cleaning the mesh filter is important to prevent blockage of airflow, but it only deals with coarse dust.
